The Common Council of the City of Rome shall make rules and regulations governing the driving and operation of motor vehicles for hire as in its judgment may be necessary for the protection and general welfare of the public.
 
The Taxi Committee is composed of three (3) members appointed for a three (3) year term. Upon recommendation of Public Safety Commissioner, 2 members will be appointed by the Mayor and one member by the Common Council.
 
The Committee has the power to establish the maximum number of taxicab licenses, establish taxi rates, inspection of the condition of vehicles and review complaints from fares.
 
The committee meets January, May and September of each year.
