The City of Rome is undergoing several community-based initiatives which are shaping the future of the nearly 35,000 residents. These community-based groups and volunteers are crucial to the vitality of the City of Rome.
The City of Rome is undergoing several community-based initiatives which are shaping the future of the nearly 35,000 residents. These community-based groups and volunteers are crucial to the vitality of the City of Rome. Among these organizations are:
· The Rome Main Street Alliance
The Rome Main Street Alliance is a group of dedicated residents and shopkeepers who are working to revitalize Rome’s key downtown corridors. The Alliance has four main committees: Design, Promotion, Economic Restructuring and Organization.
· Rome Character Initiative
Rome Character Initiative is a not-for-profit corporation whose goal is to support character development among all of our residents and encourages Rome’s citizenry to “Live a life that matters!” The RCI has worked to hard to make the City Rome an International Character City.
· Rome Clean & Green
Clean & Green is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, and the mission of the Rome organization is to empower residents to take greater responsibility for the environment and the role they play in beautification and community development. The group and its volunteers have helped make the City of Rome more livable by reducing blight, decay and unsightly conditions and establishing a greener and more attractive community.
· Rome Weed & Seed
Weed and Seed is a community-based multiagency approach to law enforcement, crime prevention, and neighborhood restoration. This initiative is a comprehensive strategy-not simply a program-to assist communities in bringing together people and resources to prevent and control crime and improve the overall quality of life.
· Up & Running
Rome Up & Running is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to identify specific community and business needs and challenges, solutions and opportunities. Partnering with residents, agencies and organizations, Rome Up & Running effects concrete, positive change through programs and actions that mobilize the community to actively participate in improving its quality of life.
