From Fort Stanwix National Monument: “On Saturday, November 26, the annual Winter on the Carry event will return to Fort Stanwix National Monument! This special event highlights the winter traditions of the residents of 18th the Century and the Mohawk Valley. The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. and are free of charge.
Activities will include a holiday sing-along and a chance to make a New Year’s “wish chain” for Junior Rangers and their families. Visitors will be invited to share their modern holiday traditions as well.
Visitors are cautioned to dress for the weather and bring a flashlight. During the evening rooms will be decorated with candles, ivy, and cozy fires. The festivities end at 8:30 p.m., but the fort will remain decorated until December 17. Those who are unable to attend the event will be able to view them Tuesday through Saturday between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., weather dependent.”
