The City of Rome also features a regional campus of Mohawk Valley Community College. This full–service branch campus offers courses leading to many of MVCC’s more than 100 degree and certificate programs, plus non–credit workshops, seminars, and a range of business/industry training opportunities.
The campus is perfectly situated in the Drone Corridor alongside Griffiss Business and Technology Park offering a Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) degree program. The sUAS program is designed to equip students with the education and training to work and think critically in this lucrative and rapidly developing field. Additionally, MVCC was the first college in New York State to have an MIT-networked FABLab. FABLab is a small-scale workshop comprised of industrial-grade fabrication equipment and electronic tools. It is a place for ideas, designs, innovations, inventions, and learning.
The Rome Campus also hosts a growing schedule of cultural and community events called DGVs, which allow students to broaden their knowledge and experiences with many different cultures.
In addition to serving the college needs of many Rome residents, this branch campus also attracts students from Madison and Lewis Counties as well as other areas. In early 2017, the MVCC Rome Campus completed a $30 million renovation project on its John D. Plumley Science and Technology Complex. The college contains state-of-the-art classrooms, learning laboratories, a fitness center, computer clusters, meeting rooms, library, bookstore, offices, and common areas.
