Deed Stamp Procedures

We would like to remind everyone of our “deed stamping” procedures for properties located within the City of Rome.  We ask that you please follow these procedures to make the process go smoothly and quickly.

For the Assessor stamp we require the following:

  1. Original deed
  2. Copy of the deed
  3. Copy of the RP-5217
  4. $30 fee – Cash, credit card or check made payable to the Rome City Clerk.
  5. Self-addressed stamped envelope to return the original stamped deed, if requested to handle by mail.
  6. Yellow transfer card filled out – Important to include where the tax bills should be mailed to and if the transfer involves a MERGE, LOT LINE ADJUSTMENT, or SPLIT.
  7. If the transfer involves a MERGE or LOT LINE ADJUSTMENT, we will require a signed action letter from Community and Economic Development and stamped plat. For SPLITS, we will require a signed approval letter from the Planning Board.

**Failure to provide any of these approval letters, we will not be able to stamp your deed.
